Getting your Vision TestedIt is essential that everyone gets their eyes tested as it is the most important sense organ in our body. Whenever we go for an eye check up with a certified optometrist it will allow us to be reassured that there is nothing seriously wrong with our vision. Most people do however have slight problems for which they are prescribed glasses. Your eyes must be protected from a young age to prevent our vision from deterioration as we get older. It takes about 30 minutes for anyone to get their eyes tested thoroughly including examinations for eye diseases that cause blindness like glaucoma. Most optometrists recommend that everyone should get their eyes tested at least once every two years or as advised by your doctor. When you go for your vision test make sure you tell your optometrist about any problems you might be having with your eyes like eye strain, headaches, watering of the eyes, blurred vision or difficulty seeing through your current pair of eyeglasses. The doctor will check your eye sight from the outer eye to the inner eye and also test the strength of the eye muscles. If your optometrist decides that you need to correct your vision then he or she will prescribe eyeglasses for you of a certain prescription according whether you are far sighted or near sighted. In some occasions, mostly in older patients you will need to get bifocals for helping you to see near and far distances. These vision tests are also imperative when you are taking your driver’s licence and whenever you get retested. This is a necessity, as you don’t want to be driving and not able to see clearly, or to have any pain or watering during these times. Remember it is always safety first!
